In 2001 BMW Films made a series of 8 short films collectively called The Hire featuring Clive Owen as a professional driver in a variety of stories.
The films featured directors John Frankenheimer, Ang Lee, Guy Ritchie, John Woo, Tony Scott, Wong Kar-wai, Alejandro González Iñárritu, and Joe Carnahan and actors Forest Whitaker, Mickey Rourke, Madonna, Don Cheadle, James Brown, Gary Oldman and more.
The films were high octane action and just awesome not to mention they garnered over 100 million views on the internet BEFORE high-speed internet or YouTube.
Now 15 years later BMW is back with Clive Owen for a new short film, The Escape, directed by Academy Award® nominated director Neill Blomkamp (“District 9,” “Elysium”) and starring Owen, Dakota Fanning, Jon Bernthal and Vera Farmiga. And it was all filmed in Toronto.
