Thanks to the VHS and Beta formats viewers were exposed to horror from all around the world, opening up the genre like never before. Among all the great studio horror and independent horror was a plethora of foreign horror finding North American audiences for the first time. One of these gems has hit Blu-ray from Arrow Video and is well worth checking out, Madhouse.
Julia (Trish Everly) has spent her entire life trying to forget her horrible childhood living with her twisted twin sister Mary (Allison Biggers). Now Julia is moving on with her life as a teacher at a school for the deaf. But when Mary escapes from a hospital after being admitted with a horrific, disfiguring illness and heads to crash Julia’s birthday party for a long awaited revenge, Julia must face her past once and for all if she is to ever get on with the rest of her life.
Madhouse is a brilliant little horror gem with the unique distinction of being an Italian production that was shot entirely in Savannah, Georgia. Combining elements of American horror with the over the top traits of Italian horror, Madhouse is a wonderful cocktail that results in an extremely fun, nasty, and blood soaked horror movie.
