Outside of the original Saga films, I really think the animated television show Star Wars: The Clone Wars is some of the best material the franchise has to offer. With an epic story arc, beautiful animation and loads of action, it has everything a Star Wars fan could want and more. Out now is the newest collection of episodes Star Wars: The Clone Wars: The Lost Missions.
Taking place between the prequels Star Wars: Attack of the Clones and Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, Star Wars: The Clone Wars follows The Grand Army of the Republic, led by Yoda, Mace Windu, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker and other Jedi Knights as they fight the Sith and the New Droid Army of the Separatists. While the series covers many battles between the two forces, it also delves deeper into the eventual arc of Anakin Skywalker, Yoda’s struggle with the threat to the Jedi’s, and this season, The Lost Missions, concerns events crucial to where the feature films end up including the creation of the clones, the rise of Senator Palpatine’s power and the origins and backstory to Order 66.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars: The Lost Missions is a fantastic season full of great character arcs, fantastic action that rivals that of the feature films, and stunning animation. The Blu-ray set is reference quality and is very impressive with bold colors, incredible clarity and a full immersive audio track. For fans of the Star Wars Universe, this is essential viewing.
